Construction workers are have physically demanding jobs that require climbing in and out of equipment, being on their feet for long hours and often doing strenuous activities. Before starting the day it is important to take the time to get the body ready for the day ahead. Did you know that stretching is one of the best things a construction worker can do to protect their body on the job?

Stretching is an important part of the daily routine for construction workers, as it helps them to avoid injury, reduce pain and strain on muscles and joints, improve posture, increase flexibility and range of motion, boost circulation throughout the body, and maintain balance. Stretching before beginning a construction job can help improve concentration levels which will lead to better performance during the work day. When muscles are relaxed and strong, there is a lower likelihood of injury or tearing. Stretching can also improve blood flow and circulation, lowering heart strain and reducing recovery time in the event of an injury. Yes, that’s right – stretching isn’t just good for your muscles but can actually improve heart health. For all of these reasons, it is essential that our workforce take some time each morning to properly stretch their bodies in order to ensure they are ready for their demanding tasks ahead.

It takes as little as 15 minutes of stretching a day to reap the health benefits of this habit. This is less time than it takes for your coffee machine to percolate in the morning. Challenge yourself for one month to stretch for 10 – 15 minutes a day and see how you feel!
