Our Milestone Safety Team hosted the first annual Safety Day this March. They invited ten vendors: Heritage Wellness Center, Milwaukee Tool, Hero Wear, PEP Safety, United Rentals, and more to teach our employees all about up-and-coming safety products. Employees who attended were able to receive free gloves and safety glasses from our generous vendors. A few lucky employees were able to win prizes in our raffle! Lastly, we can’t forget to mention the delicious taco truck for lunch!

While attending the Safety Day, we were able to ask employees and leaders how they demonstrate the importance of safety to the team. One thing was clear, many said you must “lead by example.” This means doing the right thing-always. Even if it takes extra time or an extra step, everyone on the team should make it home safely and it only takes a spilt second for an accident to occur. Bryce Loweth, Safety Representative, says that he demonstrates the importance of safety by continuing his knowledge of safety measures, he does this by reading industry news, and watching safety videos. Bryce also has an immense care for his team, many employees have become his friends. He cares that they are doing everything they can to protect themselves. We also talked to another employee, Chad Little. We asked Chad how he motivates a teammate to do the right thing. He says it all starts within yourself. “You’ve got to do it first” says Chad. By taking the lead and doing it first, this creates a chain reaction. If everyone on the team is practicing safety the right way, it becomes natural and a habit. Overall, it was a great day to reflect and reteach as we head into our busy season.

Thank you to our vendors for an educational and fun day. Another thank you to Russell and his safety team for hosting this event! We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
